Down on the Farm

I was busy today...lots of farm doodling.  Is it strange that I did most of this while watching Wolf of Wallstreet? Yes. But, productive nonetheless!

Whale design complete!

So here is the final design for the Spoonflower whales contest.  Hmmm, I think I would prefer it in some shades of blue...

ahoy whalies!

Spoonflower runs weekly fabric design contests.  "Whales" is one of the upcoming themes--it sounded fun and seemed like it would make a nice children's fabric, so I thought I'd give it a try.  I did a bit of doodling to test out my favorite whales...not going to lie, some of them are pretty scary looking.  The palette will be an interesting challenge, not your typical blues/greens.  Whales can be girly too!

moons and trees and spoonflower

So I've been obsessed with this amazing site, www.spoonflower.com, for a while now.  Artists can upload their own designs and create patterns from them for fabric, wallpaper, gift wrap, and the like.  You can make your designs private or public, so you have the choice of selling them to others--which is super nifty.  My project right now is to design a fabric pattern from some doodles I was doing the other night.  I love the woods and the night time.  This is what I have so far...need to adjust a little bit so the pattern is more filled in when it repeats.

First Post!

I think I've gone back and forth a million times about this blog...finally action!  This will be a place where I doodle, experiment, and force myself to make imperfect art.  More doing, less thinking...it's worth a shot!

I've been playing around with my drawings in Adobe Illustrator, creating poster pieces.  I've posted them on Society6, which is a really nifty site.  Basically like Etsy, but you just upload your artwork and they make all this random cool stuff for you and ship your orders.  You get a commission for each sale.  Nice for people who are just dabbling, like me (at least for now).

You can check my shop out on Society6 here and buy a nifty tote bag or shower curtain...I know just what you wanted!
